Star Student

Dear Parents,

While your child is the Star, each day of the week will consist of an exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us get to know our special classmate.

If you can visit for lunch this week, it would be a special treat for your child!

Lunch is at 11:35 in the cafe

 Monday: All About Me Poster:Please help your child complete the All About Me poster. I encourage the students to include a lot of color! The poster will be hung up on the Star Student bulletin board in the classroom all week for everyone to see.

 *Tuesday: Photographs:Please help your child find some photographs that he or she would like to share with the class. These photographs will be hung up with the All About Me poster on the Star Student bulletin board. They will be returned to you on Friday.

 *Wednesday: Parent Letter: Parents, write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your child, and I will read the letter to the class at our sharing time. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from one of the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character.

 *Thursday: Favorite Book: Your star student brings one of his or her favorite picture books to read to the class (or have the teacher read to the class) at our sharing time.

 *Friday: Special Share:Please help your child collect a few special items from home, and send them to school with your child to share with his or her classmates. Try to encourage your child to choose items that have some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys. Star Friends: Your star student will be presented with a friendship book created by his or her classmates. The book will include the reasons why your child’s classmates think he or she is a STAR!

 * The events planned for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday can be swapped in order to accommodate your personal schedules.
